Follow-Up: DrawRace Rounds the Bend
About 2 weeks ago, we posted a review on RedLynx Ltd's DrawRace saying "It'll be shocking if DrawRace doesn't steal the #1 Paid App Slot on iTunes."
Since then, DrawRace had definitely been burning its way through the App Store. Currently at spot #24 and moving up daily, DrawRace managed to snag a "featured" spot on the App Store. And while we at theAppShelf.com make no claims about being clairvoyant, we think that DrawRace has real potential to be cross that finish line.

Like Flight Control, this is definitely one of those apps worth checking out--especially at 99¢.
To get a little preview of the app, click "continue reading" to try the free Flash demo (but be warned, it doesn't fully do the iPhone app version justice!)
Click "Start Playing" in the screen below to begin the Flash Demo.

App Round-up for June
We've seen some interesting app releases this month with the release of OS 3.0 and iPhone 3GS. Some major premium titles, such as EA's The Sims 3 and Firemint's Real Racing made their iPhone debut, along with some noteworthy smaller titles like Archmage Defense and Dinosmash. We also saw the release of a long anticipated ngmoco title, Star Defense, at Apple's WWDC.
Like always for our App Round-Ups, recommendations are made only from the apps we've reviewed (not from the shelves). We like to look back at a few of the best apps we've seen throughout the preceding month. This gives everyone a chance to see what we've been playing and how our opinions may or may not have changed since our initial reviews. So without further ado:
If I could only buy one app from last month it would be:
Castle of Magic [click for review] [App Store Link]
Close Runner-ups:
Sentinel 2: Earth Defense [click for review] [App Store Link]
The Sims 3 [click for review] [App Store Link]
Stick Wars [click for review] [App Store Link]
Star Defense [click for review] [App Store Link] (despite my criticism about the game not living up to its expectations, the app's enjoyable to play.)
That about wraps it up for June. It turned out to be an odd review month with all the iPhone 3GS hype, but things are definitely staring to normalize again.
In fact, July looks like its stacking up to be a very interesting month. RedLynx's DrawRace is already a strong contender for July's App Round-up. Also, rumor has it Rolando 2 is slated for a VERY early July launch. Doom Resurrection just rolled into the App Store, with DOOM Classic nearing completion according to a Touch Arcade interview with John Carmack. On top of everything else, old apps are rolling out and updating with new features, making them better than ever thanks to OS 3.0. All-in-all, I think the App Store is in for an exciting month.
